Top Ten Requirements for being a Tennessee fan!

tennesse-vols-fans
1. Always live in the past!
If there is any requirement of a Tennessee Volunteer fan it is most definitely a requirement to live in the past! Live in those games many ions ago when the Volunteers actually won a game. As a loyal Tennessee fan you must boast of past accomplishments and how good they used to be because it is incredibly relevant to each current season.

2. When you get tired of living in the past, live in the future!
This may be a tie with #1! In order to be a dedicated Tennessee fan and make it through several occasions where the Volunteers don’t pull through with the win, you must always live in the future. Easy status updates could possibly be, “Just wait until next year! #GOB” “It’s a rebuilding year!” “What a horribly called game! Those refs are awful!” So if the current team or season doesn’t seem pleasant, look forward to next year when we will have the best players in the nation come to Rocky Top!

3. Coordinate fan clothing to decorate Neyland stadium!
Make it about the fans! Make it about the charades, the beautiful, never annoying school anthem, and about decking out the stadium with that gorgeous, stunning, angelic orange. Of course, you should never make it about the players because you must wear the right color and sit in the right section! And don’t forget to upload several pictures to Instagram of how the checkerboard stadium looks for everyone who hasn’t already seen it 27 times.

4. Over exaggerating when winning is a must!
In the extremely rare occasion that Tennessee does win a game against a team that has never been ranked in college football and definitely isn’t an SEC team, exaggerated celebration is a must for a Tennessee fan! Make sure you tweet and update your Facebook status about how that was SUCH a BIG WIN for VOLNation!!!! How that it’s such a great day to be a Tennessee Volunteer! And post lyrics to the school anthem that NEVER gets old!

5. When in doubt, blame the coach!
When the Volunteers aren’t having the best season possible you can always blame the coach and say that it is entirely his fault. It won’t have anything to do with the lack of talent on the team, the lack of recruitment by the program, or any of the other several coaches they pay to have on the coaching staff, and it is strictly one man’s fault that Tennessee is having a perfect winning season.

6. Don’t fret, there’s always basketball!
Don’t worry. When football season doesn’t go the best, the Volunteers will always have basketball season to look for. The Tennessee basketball program is really talented and we can always look forward to the VolNation taking over!

7. You can always talk bad about Vandy!
If you need someone to pick on, you can always argue how much better Tennessee is than Vanderbilt. They have such a horrible football program and come nothing close to the prestigious football program of The University of Tennessee.

8. Always choose class!
Tennessee fans never forget to “Turn Down For What” on the opposing team’s third down. How clever this slogan and song is to play during those third downs. This adds to the classiness of being a Volunteer along with playing such a classic song from Lil’ Wayne.

9. Remember everyone is a rival!
From Kentucky, to Vanderbilt, to Florida, and Alabama – these teams are all considered, in some way most fans forget, to be a BIG rival to the Volunteers. It’s important, as a committed fan, to remember they anyone who Tennessee plays is a HUGE rival!

10. Never, Ever, EVER admit that Tennessee is just BAD!
Pay no attention to the four-year losing streak, the lack of coaching, the lack of recruiting, or lack of having talent; it is never due to the fact that the football program may be incompetent! The Tennessee Volunteers are never bad, there is always an excuse that causes them not to win, the coach, the refs, “it’s our rebuilding year,” “we have young players,” the reasons are endless.

Top Ten Disney Songs

Untitled-1
This has been one of the hardest top tens I have done yet. Even when I came up with my top ten, numbering them has been impossible. I can’t believe Lion King didn’t make the list as much as I love that movie. I absolutely love every song in The Little Mermaid and Aladdin, hence why they are on this list multiple times. I have several honorable mentions that are also included below.

Honorable Mentions: Son of Man – Tarzan; Zero to Hero – Hercules; Baby of Mine – Dumbo; Friend Like Me – Aladdin; Prince Ali – Aladdin; I Won’t Say I’m In Love – Hercules; Brazzle Dazzle Day – Pete’s Dragon; Just Around The River Bend – Pocahontas

My California Adventure

IMG_2820 copy
I honestly thought I would never make it out to California. I was on a business trip and decided to take two days and have an adventure, and it was grand. I started in Palm Springs, drove to Los Angeles, went over to Long Beach and drove down the west coast to Laguna Beach. Then went back up to Anaheim to Downtown Disney, and got to spend a day in the parks. It was a great time.

IMG_2626
Los Angeles/Hollywood Boulevard
These were my first stops out of Palm Springs. The traffic was crazy. I was in search for Amy’s star and found it rather quickly by looking up the address for it! If you are ever on Hollywood Boulevard and you’re looking for a specific star you can look up the address here: http://www.walkoffame.com/ I also snapped a picture of Mickey’s and Drew Barrymore’s.

Hollywood Sign
This was an adventure to find. There are several spots that people and blogs recommend to get a picture with the famous Hollywood sign. But of course I wanted to find the closest one that was legal to get too. The picture doesn’t do it justice. The sign was really cool to get to see, but the scenery and landscape was breath taking.

IMG_2612
Laguna Beach
This is probably one of the prettiest and coolest places I have ever been. The views here were gorgeous, the Pacific Ocean is dynamite blue, there are palm trees everywhere, and it is such a peaceful place. I ate lunch at a place called The Cliff that was perched over the bay with an excellent view of the waves crashing into the bay.

Disneyland
This is where is all the magic began! I definitely got this feeling as I entered Disneyland. It feels a little tighter here in California, but I loved that about the park. It felt like characters were everywhere and roaming wherever they wanted. I ran in Snow White on accident and snapped a picture with her. I met Hollywood Mickey, Anna and Else, and of course my favorite Goofy. Characters were everywhere and the lines were rather short. There are several duplicated rides here that are also in Disney World, but some are different. I enjoyed Space Mountain in Disneyland more than the one in Disney World. The seats were more comfortable, you have speakers in the back of your headrests, and the experience was thrilling. The Indiana Jones Adventure was probably my favorite ride here. I have always been an Indiana fan and loved this ride. I did the classic rides like Haunted Mansion, Pinocchio’s Daring Journey, Snow White’s Scary Adventures, and Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride. They were great. But when I got off the Matterhorn Bobsleds coaster I felt like someone had beat me with a bat. It was rough to say the least. Storybook Land Canal Boats was also one of my favorites! This was one of the rides that Walt worked on by himself. At the end of the ride you can see a tree that was planted by Walt himself. That was pretty cool!

The Mickey’s Soundsational Parade at night is a must see! I felt like it went on forever. My favorite part was from Mary Poppins with the chimney sweep guys.

Cars Land Sign

California Adventure
Cars Land was awesome. It was just like stepping into the movie. Radiator Springs Racers is a fun ride and you can get on quick if you go to the Single Rider Service line. I really wanted to see the Aladdin show but the theater was down for refurbishment. California Screamin’ is also great. It too has a single rider line. I rode in the very back and loved the experience.

IMG_2812

You must come back at night to this park to see The World of Color. In my opinion, it blows Fantasmic! out of the water…literally, lol.

Top Ten Television Series

tv showsMost of these television shows are series I watched while growing up. Those shows bring back so many memories of familiar times in my life that these shows remind me of. I do have a few newer shows that I have been watching and that are currently being played on television and I didn’t want to leave those out. I will have two honorable mentions on this list.

Modern-Family-550x435
Honorable Mention: Modern Family 2009 – Current

This show has really grown on me throughout their seasons. Gloria is one of my favorite characters of all time. Phil’s character has grown on me as well. This show has won 1 Golden Globe and 18 Emmys.

TV Nayyar 104902
Honorable Mention: The Big Bang Theory 2007 – Current

Big Bang has definitely grown on me through time. The girls are who make this show, sorry boys. I cannot stand Sheldon in this series. I wish they would ship him to another country and continue the show. I think it would be even better. This show has currently won 1 Golden Globe, and 4 Emmys.

quot-Homeland-quot-Season-Premiere-Gets-Leaked-Online-380108-2
10. Homeland 2011 – Current

I have just recently started watching this series and I love it. It is by far the most intense television show I have ever seen. Claire Danes does a phenomenal job. With only starting its third season this year Homeland has already won 3 Golden Globes, and 9 Emmy Awards!

Fresh-Prince-of-Bel-Air-cast1
9. The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air 1990-1996

Who doesn’t love this show? Or know the theme song? Will Smith is one of the best actors and is great at everything he does. This is one of the great comedies ever on television.

abc_home_improvement_nt_121205_wmain8. Home Improvement 1991-1999
What a fantastic  family television series. Tim the tool man Taylor. This cast was wonderful together and never boring to watch. From the boys growing up, Jill putting up with Tim, Al putting up with Tim, and Wilson giving great confusing advice, it was a great series.

DesigningWomenCasttt_slideshow_604x500
7. Designing Women 1986-1993

Welcome to the Sugarbakers! What a great series. Bernice (not pictures above) is another of my all time favorite television characters. I love every single episode that she is in. This cast fit so well together before Suzanne and Charlene left. This show won 1 Emmy.

tv_boy_meets_world_1
6. Boy Meets World 1993-2000

One of the best quality shows ever made. A great show for the whole family to watch together. Watching Cory Matthews get into trouble with Shawn Hunter never became dull. Topanga stole Corey’s heart and he never let it go.

1226864527253
5. Roseanne 1988-1997

Some people may see this television show as a little crude, however I see it as honest truth of real families. Laurie Metcalf as Jackie Harris is one of my all time favorite television characters. I tend to like the later seasons of Roseanne more than the earlier ones. This show won 3 Golden Globes and 4 Emmys.

cast-of-my-so-called-life-5
4. My So-Called Life 1994-1995
It is very upsetting that this series only had 19 episodes. I can’t for the life of me understand why ABC cancelled this show. Re-watching episodes have never made me miss the 90’s more. Even though it angers me that there aren’t more seasons or episodes, and the show ends horribly, with no real ending, I still love it.

26911Dr_Quinn
3. Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman 1993-1998

Dr. Quinn is one of the best family shows ever on television. It dealt with real events that happen, real family problems, as well as you grew to love the characters even with their flaws. Dr. Quinn was nominated for 4 Golden Globes. Jane Seymour won 1 for Best performance for Actress in a Drama in 1996. Dr. Quinn also won 3 Emmy Awards.

promos20050075uz
2. Charmed 1998-2006

What a magically cast. Rose McGowen completed Holly Marie Combs and Alyssa Milano as the Halliwell sisters. She fit perfectly and in my opinion the show got even better. I love the dynamic of how the characters grew throughout the seasons. I loved how they relied on their family through their hard times. I loved how they intertwined Piper’s boys into the story. I also appreciate how they kept their guest stars consistent.

Wallpaper-star-trek-the-next-generation-32404546-1280-720
1. Star Trek: The Next Generation 1987-1998

My most favorite television show. I absolutely love the Star Trek franchise. All the characters are fantastic and I have grown to love each of them. I love that Whoopi was a consistent character on the series as well as in their movies. I truly wish that this cast would have continued their films as well, I miss them.  Star Trek The Next Generation won a total of 18 Emmys.

Top Ten Christmas Movies

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! & with the most wonderful time of the year comes the best Christmas movies to watch with your friends and family! There are thousands of great Christmas movies out there and several that I own myself. Once Halloween is over, they become a continual marathon on my television. Among all the Christmas films, I do have a top 10. This was a very hard list with several honorable mentions: Christmas With The Kranks, Home Alone, It’s A Wonderful Life, Miracle on 34th Street, Jingle All The Way, Ernest Saves Christmas, and Mickey’s Christmas Carol.

Hope you enjoy and check out the list if you haven’t seen one of them. Merry Christmas!

10. Santa Claus The Movie [With Dudley Moore] (1985)
What a classic Christmas movie. It’s rustic 80’s settings makes this movie perfectly enchanting and creates a historic background of Santa Claus. The film then moves into modern day (the 80’s) and tells you the story of one of Santa’s elves who gets caught up with the wrong toy manufacturers. It’s a true story of Christmas love, forgiveness, and joy. It’s a classic, check it out!

Image
9. A Christmas Carol [Patrick Stewart] (1999)
There are several different versions of the Christmas Carol, but this one is by far my favorite. Of course that is because of Patrick Stewart. He gives this classic Christmas story the perfect authentic touch through his character. His acting always creates a connection to the character he plays no matter what he does. The scenery, acting, filming, are all beautifully done in this classic Christmas story.

white
8. White Christmas (1954)

One of the best classic Christmas films ever. The music, songs, and acting found in this classic film fit together perfectly. Bing Crosby’s Christmas melodies are among the best still to date along with his classic entitled White Christmas. Its a great traditional Christmas film that is made for the whole family.

Image
7. All I Want For Christmas (1991)
It seems like everyone forgets about this great 90’s Christmas movie. Thora Birch starred in this family Christmas movie before she was cast as Dannie in Hocus Pocus. Ethan and Hallie (brother and sister) scheme to get their parents back together as they approach their first Christmas with their parents being separated. Hallie asked Santa to get her parents back together, and as big brother Ethan learned what she has asks, he does everything in his power to bring them back together by Christmas.

Image
6. Scrooged (1988)
Bill Murray does a phenomenal job in the beginning of this movie at making you hate his character Frank. Scrooged was a very clever way at giving the classic story of The Christmas Carol a modern day facelift in the 80’s. Carol Kane is one of the funniest characters in this movie as Ghost of Christmas Present. Scrooged has definitely become a favorite of mine and a holiday classic.

Image
5. Elf (2003)
“Is there sugar in syrup? Then YES!” This is by far Will Farrell’s best movie! A great family movie filled with clean comedy, Christmas cheer, and Zooey Deschanel’s beautiful voice. The amount of one-liners that are in this movie are countless and hysterical every time I hear them. I think this movie actually gets funnier each time I watch it. My friends send me messages every time they watch it telling me how the film reminds them of me. 🙂 How many Elf one-liners do you know?

Image
4. Christmas Vacation (1989)
“Grace? She passed away 30 years ago.” Who doesn’t absolutely love this Christmas film? Classic Christmas comedy at its finest. The dysfunctional family keeps everyone entertained throughout this film. Cousin Eddie and Aunt Bethany are two that never fail to make the same comments just as fun when you hear them for the 100th time. This is always a family tradition to watch at Thanksgiving and in getting ready for the season.

Image
3. The Santa Clause [Tim Allen] (1994)
You can never go wrong with Tim Allen in a Christmas film. What a neat screenplay of how Scott (Tim Allen) becomes Santa Clause and has to battle his real life as well as his x-wife and son during this adventure. I love the simplicity of the story and the humor Tim Allen portrays into his character as he always does.

Image
2. The Family Stone (2005)
Every family has it problems, set backs and struggles, but the bond of a family during Christmas time should never fail to be brought together by love. As the prime first born child of five brings his uptight fiance home with him during Christmas, the easy going family doesn’t really like his pick. The family is beautiful in all of their flaws and are all brought together by accepting each other no matter what.

Image
1. Home Alone 2: Lost In New York (1992)
This is my most favorite Christmas movie ever. Don’t get me wrong, I love the first one as well, but this one is just perfect! Most sequels are flops too, but not this one. In my opinion is surpasses the first one. It have the same consistency from the first one, but takes it to such another level in New York City. The score of this film also fits perfectly and makes it even more magically. This movie is one of the biggest reasons I want to go to New York and take the Home Alone 2 tour! 🙂 This is a great and clean family classic Christmas movie. I love it.
