Essential Christmas Playlist

These are truly the best songs for the Christmas season. Some of them are fun to sing and listen to, as well as the ones that celebrate Christ’s birth. Music has always been such an important part in celebrating His birth and celebrating the season of thankfulness, of His love and mercy. Enjoy.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! & with the most wonderful time of the year comes the best Christmas movies to watch with your friends and family! There are thousands of great Christmas movies out there and several that I own myself. Once Halloween is over, they become a continual marathon on my television. Among all the Christmas films, I do have a top 10. This was a very hard list with several honorable mentions: Christmas With The Kranks, Home Alone, It’s A Wonderful Life, Miracle on 34th Street, Jingle All The Way, Ernest Saves Christmas, and Mickey’s Christmas Carol.

Hope you enjoy and check out the list if you haven’t seen one of them. Merry Christmas!

10. Santa Claus The Movie [With Dudley Moore] (1985)
What a classic Christmas movie. It’s rustic 80’s settings makes this movie perfectly enchanting and creates a historic background of Santa Claus. The film then moves into modern day (the 80’s) and tells you the story of one of Santa’s elves who gets caught up with the wrong toy manufacturers. It’s a true story of Christmas love, forgiveness, and joy. It’s a classic, check it out!

9. A Christmas Carol [Patrick Stewart] (1999)
There are several different versions of the Christmas Carol, but this one is by far my favorite. Of course that is because of Patrick Stewart. He gives this classic Christmas story the perfect authentic touch through his character. His acting always creates a connection to the character he plays no matter what he does. The scenery, acting, filming, are all beautifully done in this classic Christmas story.

8. White Christmas (1954)

One of the best classic Christmas films ever. The music, songs, and acting found in this classic film fit together perfectly. Bing Crosby’s Christmas melodies are among the best still to date along with his classic entitled White Christmas. Its a great traditional Christmas film that is made for the whole family.

7. All I Want For Christmas (1991)
It seems like everyone forgets about this great 90’s Christmas movie. Thora Birch starred in this family Christmas movie before she was cast as Dannie in Hocus Pocus. Ethan and Hallie (brother and sister) scheme to get their parents back together as they approach their first Christmas with their parents being separated. Hallie asked Santa to get her parents back together, and as big brother Ethan learned what she has asks, he does everything in his power to bring them back together by Christmas.

6. Scrooged (1988)
Bill Murray does a phenomenal job in the beginning of this movie at making you hate his character Frank. Scrooged was a very clever way at giving the classic story of The Christmas Carol a modern day facelift in the 80’s. Carol Kane is one of the funniest characters in this movie as Ghost of Christmas Present. Scrooged has definitely become a favorite of mine and a holiday classic.

5. Elf (2003)
“Is there sugar in syrup? Then YES!” This is by far Will Farrell’s best movie! A great family movie filled with clean comedy, Christmas cheer, and Zooey Deschanel’s beautiful voice. The amount of one-liners that are in this movie are countless and hysterical every time I hear them. I think this movie actually gets funnier each time I watch it. My friends send me messages every time they watch it telling me how the film reminds them of me. 🙂 How many Elf one-liners do you know?

4. Christmas Vacation (1989)
“Grace? She passed away 30 years ago.” Who doesn’t absolutely love this Christmas film? Classic Christmas comedy at its finest. The dysfunctional family keeps everyone entertained throughout this film. Cousin Eddie and Aunt Bethany are two that never fail to make the same comments just as fun when you hear them for the 100th time. This is always a family tradition to watch at Thanksgiving and in getting ready for the season.

3. The Santa Clause [Tim Allen] (1994)
You can never go wrong with Tim Allen in a Christmas film. What a neat screenplay of how Scott (Tim Allen) becomes Santa Clause and has to battle his real life as well as his x-wife and son during this adventure. I love the simplicity of the story and the humor Tim Allen portrays into his character as he always does.

2. The Family Stone (2005)
Every family has it problems, set backs and struggles, but the bond of a family during Christmas time should never fail to be brought together by love. As the prime first born child of five brings his uptight fiance home with him during Christmas, the easy going family doesn’t really like his pick. The family is beautiful in all of their flaws and are all brought together by accepting each other no matter what.

1. Home Alone 2: Lost In New York (1992)
This is my most favorite Christmas movie ever. Don’t get me wrong, I love the first one as well, but this one is just perfect! Most sequels are flops too, but not this one. In my opinion is surpasses the first one. It have the same consistency from the first one, but takes it to such another level in New York City. The score of this film also fits perfectly and makes it even more magically. This movie is one of the biggest reasons I want to go to New York and take the Home Alone 2 tour! 🙂 This is a great and clean family classic Christmas movie. I love it.
